A halal certificate is a document that attests that a product or service complies with Islamic law (Shariah). It is issued by a halal certification body, which is an organization that has been accredited to assess and certify the halal compliance of products and services.

In order to obtain a halal certificate, a product or service must be free from any prohibited ingredients or materials, and it must be produced in a way that complies with Islamic law. The halal certification process typically involves an audit of the product or service, as well as an assessment of the production facilities and processes.

In Indonesia, halal certification is mandatory for certain products and services, including food, beverages, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. The Indonesian government has established the Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH), which is responsible for the administration of halal certification in Indonesia.
